Face Space

with one comment

No, I am not talking about Facebook or Myspace or the combination of either one. I’m referring to the 6 inches around the circumference of my head that is reserved for my well being, called “Face Space”. I don’t understand people that don’t understand this concept.

I have never been at want for my own personal space. I’ve always had my own room and did not need to share much since I had a sibling of the opposite sex, so being temporarily transported out in the big apple was a huge culture shock for me. Sharing my oxygen with the guy next to me on a subway was not my idea of a good morning.

So how close is too close? How about when someone is sitting on my lap while everyone is squished like sardines on the train, or worse, when there’s a crotch in my face! If I can smell your toothpaste or lack thereof, it’s time to back it up. Or when my boss used to get super excited about something and kept getting closer and closer, as his eyes got bigger and bigger and then smack! Yes J, you are too close. (but you know i love you)

A few tips for a better functioning society: Sitting in someones lap is not acceptable, no matter how crowded the subway/bus is. If you are sitting in between two people and one of them gets off, take their seat. Subway seats are not made for my ghetto booty, every square inch makes for a comfortable ride. The only time you should invade one’s personal space is when you are about to engage in a make-out sesh, or talk shit about someone within ear shot.

Learn it, Live it, Love it.

A-Train, Columbus Circle.. how I miss you.
