Texting Texting 1,2,3
In a world where relaying information and keeping in touch is at our fingertips, do we fail to communicate with one another verbally?
I grew up in pre-existent times. Pre cell phones, text messaging, instant messages, video chatting, social networks, and virtual journals or blogs. All the modes we use to communicate and keep in touch with each another didn’t exist when I was growing up, so in some ways, I still feel like a real conversation is more substantial than a few exchanges through text or instant message.
Text messaging is convenient when you are in a place when talking on the phone is not optimal, ie: class, work, in a loud venue, but I don’t understand people who text over 10msgs back and forth just to figure out where/what to eat when both parties were sitting on the couch in their respective homes. A 45 second phone conversation would have sufficed.
I guess I’m just jealous because I don’t have unlimited text messaging like the rest of the world.
*sigh*
